Nebraska police warn imposters are preying on families preparing for funerals

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska authorities are sharing a warning about a sickening new scheme going around.
It involves imposters who pretend to be funeral home workers, according to an article the Henderson Police Department is calling attention to.
The Federal Trade Commission said scammers threaten to cancel your loved one’s ceremony, unless you pay more money right away.
You can avoid becoming the next victim by resisting the pressure to act immediately. Honest businesses will give you time to make hard decisions.
The FTC also recommends contacting the funeral home directly, using a phone number you know is real.
Scammers also ask you to pay in ways that make them hard to track down.
So never send payments to anyone insisting that you use a wire transfer, cryptocurrency, or gift cards.
