LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska softball team fell in game two of the Knoxville Super Regional on Saturday, losing 3-2 to No. 7 Tennessee at Sherri Lee Parker Stadium.

As a team, the Huskers tallied five hits and left four runners on base, while Tennessee managed four hits and left three runners on base.

Five different Huskers recorded a hit in the contest: Jordyn Bahl, Samantha Bland, Hannah Camenzind, Bella Bacon and Emmerson Cope.

Camenzind led the team in RBIs with two.

Bahl (26-7) threw all seven innings in the circle, striking out six batters and walking two.

Both squads were hot from the plate in the first inning.

In the top of the first, leadoff hitter Gabby Leach was hit by a pitch before stealing second on a passed ball.

Redshirt freshman Ella Dodge was able to take advantage of the baserunner, hitting a 2-run home run down the right field line to give the Lady Vols a 2-0 lead.

But the Huskers immediately punched back in the bottom of the first.

Bahl led off the inning with an infield single, outrunning the throw from third base. Bland was able to do the same, pushing a single through the left side of the infield to put runners on first and second.

Ava Kuszak’s flyout to right field allowed Bahl and Bland to advance to second and third, setting up a prime RBI opportunity for Camenzind.

Camenzind took advantage, hitting a 2-RBI single back up the middle to tie the game 2-2.

The Lady Vols regained the lead in the top of the third inning, getting a sacrifice fly from McKenna Gibson to score Leach from third.

The series between Nebraska and Tennessee is now tied 1-1.

The rubber match between the two squads is set for Sunday, with the winner getting a berth in the 2025 Women’s College World Series.
