Nebraska softball run-rules SE Louisiana, heads to first super regional since 2014

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The No. 19-ranked Nebraska softball team is headed to its first super regional since 2014.
The Huskers wrapped up a perfect 3-0 showing in the Baton Rouge Regional on Sunday, beating Southeastern Louisiana 8-0 at Tiger Stadium.

This is the second time Nebraska beat the Lions in the regional, winning 14-1 in run-rule fashion on Saturday.

Nebraska’s victory on Sunday came in walk-off fashion. With the bases loaded in the sixth inning, Ava Kuszak roped a single down the left field line to bring home the winning run.

The Huskers were led by Samantha Bland with a 3-for-4 showing from the plate, knocking in a team-high four RBIs.
Jordyn Bahl and Kuszak each had two hits for the Huskers.
Bahl (25-6) got the win in the circle for the Huskers, pitching six innings while only allowing one hit and striking out 10 batters.
Nebraska put together a statement first inning, getting home runs from Bahl and Kuszak to take an early 2-0 lead.
Bahl cranked four home runs in the Baton Rouge Regional and has 23 total on the season, breaking a program record.

Nebraska’s bats continued to stay hot early in the game. Samantha Bland hit a two-out, two-run double down the third base line in the second inning to give the Huskers a 4-0 lead.
Bland added to the Huskers’ run total in the fourth inning as well, hitting a two-run double to center field that scored Bahl and Ava Bredwell.
Kuszak was able to get Bland home with a sacrifice fly to center field to give the Huskers a 7-0 lead.
The Huskers will head to the Knoxville Super Regional to take on No. 7 Tennessee in a best-of-three series for a chance to go to the College World Series.
Game one from Sherri Parker Lee Stadium is set for Friday at 6 p.m. on ESPN 2.
