Nebraska softball walks off game one of Baton Rouge Regional

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The No. 19 Nebraska softball team jumped its first hurdle in the Baton Rouge Regional on Friday, beating UConn 10-2 in six innings at Tiger Park.
A wild pitch allowed Bella Bacon to score from third, giving the Huskers their first opening round win since 2022 in walk-off fashion.

As a team, the Huskers tallied 10 hits and left eight runners on base, while the Huskies only managed four hits and committed two errors.
Nebraska’s offense exploded in the bottom of the second inning as 4 runs came across the plate to give the Huskers a commanding lead.
That spark fueled the Huskers’ offense for the rest of the afternoon as Nebraska scored 3 more in the third inning, 1 in the fifth and 2 in the sixth.
Big Ten Pitcher and Player of the Year Jordyn Bahl led the Huskers in every facet of the game.
Bahl got the start in the circle for the Huskers, pitching three hitless innings while walking two batters and striking out three.
The Papillion native also had an outstanding showing from the plate, going 2-for-2 with two home runs, five RBIs, two walks and 3 runs.
Ava Kuszak, Abbie Squier and Ava Bredwell each had two hits, while Olivia DiNardo knocked in two RBIs.
Kylee Magee (8-4) got the win for the Huskers, pitching three innings while allowing 2 runs on four hits. Magee also fanned three batters.
The Huskers await the winner of No. 11 LSU and Southeastern Louisiana. The Tigers and the Lions will face off at 5:30 p.m.
First pitch for Nebraska’s next game is set for noon Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
