Nebraska State Capitol turns blue in support of Israel

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – As a symbol of solidarity with the people of Israel, the Nebraska State Capitol will be illuminated in blue light starting Wednesday night.

The color represents Israel’s flag, which is blue and white.

Gov. Jim Pillen directed the change, which will last until the evening of Oct. 19.

“The atrocities committed against civilians in Israel, including women and children, are brutal and baseless,” he said in a statement. “We condemn these terrorist acts, that have also claimed the lives of American citizens.”

Pillen is also requesting Nebraskans to keep American and state flags at half-staff until sunset on Thursday.
