Nebraska State Patrol investigating overnight homicide in Seward

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating an overnight homicide in Seward.

Just after 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Seward County dispatch received a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a home near North Second and Lincoln streets.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult male leaving the house with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the patrol said in a press release.

Inside the home, officers said they found a female with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the patrol.

The man was transported to Seward Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He has since been moved to UNMC in Omaha for additional treatment.

After a preliminary investigation by the state patrol, investigators found that the woman had a protection order against the man.

The patrol said it believes the man entered the home, shot the woman multiple times, then shot himself.
