Nebraska State Patrol seizes 25,000 suspected fentanyl pills during traffic stop on I-80
Troopers found the fentanyl during a search of the vehicle, along with 2 pounds of suspected cocaine and 6 grams of marijuana, NSP says.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol seized 25,000 suspected fentanyl pills on Monday during a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Dawson County.
A trooper pulled over a speeding Acura TSX on I-80 near Lexington at around 3:40 p.m., according to NSP. During the traffic stop, the trooper noticed the smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and began a search.
Inside the vehicle troopers found numerous bags containing the 25,000 suspected fentanyl pills along with two pounds of suspected cocaine and six grams of marijuana, NSP says.
NSP arrested the driver, Alejandro Lopez Leon, 24, and passenger, Orlando Castro Gutierrez, 28, both of Los Angeles, Calif.
Both were arrested on suspicion of possession of an exceptionally hazardous drug, possession with intent to deliver an exceptionally hazardous drug, possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana – less than an ounce, and no drug tax stamp.
Both men were lodged in the Dawson County Jail, according to NSP.
