LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol helped several travelers during this week’s snowstorm.

In a press release, the patrol said troopers responded to over 200 “weather-related incidents” between Tuesday and Thursday.

In total, troopers investigated 34 crashes, helped 161 motorists and assisted other agencies with 18 responses, the patrol said.

And with bitter temps in the forecast, the patrol is asking drivers to stay prepared while on the road.

“Exposure in extremely cold temperatures can be dangerous after only a short amount of time,” said Col. John Bolduc, the patrol’s superintendent. “Everyone on the road should have a plan in case they become stranded. Keep a winter survival kit in your vehicle and have a full tank of gas before you hit the road.”

People can check the Nebraska 511 map for updated weather conditions throughout Nebraska.  Anyone who becomes stranded can call the patrol’s highway helpline at *55 or 800-525-5555.
