Nebraska State Penitentiary sustains storm damage; 387 inmates displaced

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said the Nebraska State Penitentiary sustained damage from Saturday’s storm.

According to officials, two housing units at the prison were damaged, displacing 387 incarcerated individuals.

There are no reported injuries, and all staff and inmates are safe and accounted for.

Officials said the facility is arranging relocation plans for the impacted individuals.

Visits at the prison are cancelled for Saturday and Sunday, according to officials.
