Nebraska state senator suggest arming teachers for school safety

A Nebraska state senator has proposed legislation that would allow teachers to be armed in schools.

Sen. Steve Halloran of Hastings introduced legislation Wednesday, called the School Safety Rapid Response Act.

Sen. Halloran believes it could help in the response time to school shootings.

The new bill would allow teachers and school staff to carry concealed handguns in school districts and on college campuses, if they pass the state’s conceal carry class.
