Nebraska Statewide Arboretum’s huge plant sale is back in person

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Spring Affair plant sale is back at the Lancaster Event Center after not being in person since 2019 because of the pandemic.

Hanna Pinneo, executive director of the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, said it is great to see everyone again.

“Now our shoppers get to come out, they get to touch the plants, feel the plants, know which ones they want most, and get to pick them out. It’s really great to be back because in previous years, we were pulling all the plants ourselves, so especially now, they’re doing a bit of the work,” Pinneo laughed.

The event is put on by the arboretum and is billed as “the Midwest’s largest plant sale,” with more than 600 varieties and over 25,000 individual plants.

The event serves as an educational tool and is also the largest fundraiser for the arboretum.

The group makes anywhere between $20,000 to $40,000 from this event alone.

The sale continues on Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

It is free to get in and park.
