LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) –  In a unanimous decision, the Nebraska Supreme Court rejected the Nebraska Republican Party’s lawsuit against Senator Adam Morfeld.

Nebraska’s Republican Party initially filed the lawsuit alleging that Morfeld didn’t meet set requirements because he hasn’t “actively practiced law” for two years.

In a written response from Morfeld on Monday regarding the Supreme Court’s decision, It was a lawsuit completely without any merit meant to harass a candidate and circumvent the voters. Their failure at every level of the litigation in the election commissioner’s office, District Court and now Supreme Court only exemplifies that. We will continue to run a strong campaign to earn the trust and respect of the voters of Lancaster County,” stated Morfeld.

Morfeld is currently in the running against Pat Condon, a long-term deputy county attorney appointed to replace Joe Kelly when he became U.S. Attorney for Nebraska.  Condon, a Republican, ran unopposed in the November 2018 election
