Nebraska Task Force 1 leaves for the largest Urban Search and Rescue exercise ever undertaken

On Sunday afternoon the Nebraska Task Force One mobilized to begin their training in Butlerville, Indiana alongside other task forces from all over the country.

“Nebraska is one of the teams that’s probably been deployed the most out of the 28 teams just because of our central location and training on this now is important to train so that we get out in that 4-hour time frame,” Lloyd Mueller a Nebraska Task Force leader said.

The Nebraska Task Force One has multiple truckloads of supplies with anything from boats to food.

It’s made up of people from all over Nebraska from Grand Island to Omaha, but it’s not just first responders, it’s also everyday civilians going out and helping in any way they can.

“We try to involve as many communities in Nebraska to get a member from. So when we go we can represent Nebraska we are definitely out there to do a good job,” Mueller said.

In the training they are simulating a massive earthquake with so many different groups joining together these types of training activates are vital to not only learning what to do but how to do it as well.

“It’s important because that way we can all work together and kind of learn not only learn the discipline form everybody but also to get to know each other,” Michael Smith task force leader said.

With more than 70 people leaving for this training

Getting everything ready is very chaotic, but it’s extremely organized to help out at any time and anywhere.

“The Nebraska Task Force One is constantly training constantly at the ready and we’re here to help the citizen of this country,” Ryan Lochenstein with the Nebraska Task Force One said.
