Nebraska Task Force One is heading to Raleigh, North Carolina, ahead of Hurricane Florence.

They leave today, Tuesday, at 7 a.m.

The task force is made up of firefighters from Lincoln, Omaha, and Papillion.

Florence is now a Category 4 hurricane, but officials say it could strengthen to a Category 5 by the time it makes landfall Thursday evening.

More than one million people are already under a mandatory evacuation, and governors in North and South Carolina, as well as Virginia and Maryland, have declared a state of emergency.

Nebraska Task Force One Chief Brad Thavenet is currently in Honolulu, Hawaii,  as a typhoon and hurricane both make their way towards the islands.
