Nebraska Task Force returns from hurricane deployment

Nebraska Task Force 1 helped with evacuations after Hurricane Florence.
The team was deployed September 11th and got back Friday night around 8:30. They arrived at a city facility near the Lincoln airport.
The group has been in North Carolina for the last week doing with water rescues.
Forty-four of Nebraska’s firefighters and civilian first responders were posted in Fort Mills, North Carolina, where they helped in hundreds of rescue missions – including the evacuation of a nursing home, removing 124 seniors from flood waters.
“We were evacuating 124 elderly and physically handicapped people and trying to get them from the door into the bus,” said Task Force Leader Roger Bonin. “It was challenging for our providers.
The task force said it worked in 24–hour operation periods and the locals were very thankful for them.
Chief Bonin said they have a unique team and they feel proud doing the work they did.
