LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol arrested a man who was on the run from law enforcement on Tuesday.

David Wengler, 40, had been on parole after he was sentenced for second-degree assault, possession of a controlled substance, use of a firearm to commit a felony and assault by a confined person.

Last March, Wengler “absconded” from parole, according to the patrol.

Earlier this week, troopers received information that Wengler was living at a home in Orleans, a village of about 350 people southwest of Holdrege.

The patrol’s SWAT team then served a search warrant at the home and took Wengler into custody.

He was lodged in the Phelps County Jail, the patrol says.
