Nebraska troopers helped over 1,800 travelers during recent winter storms

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol responded to nearly 2,000 incidents during two recent winter storms.

In an update Wednesday, the patrol said troopers helped 1,828 travelers and responded to 93 crashes in just over a week.

Troopers also helped other agencies with 133 additional incidents.

“While our teams have been busy during over the last week, our troopers and NDOT plow crews remain ready to help,” said Col. John Bolduc, the patrol’s superintendent, in a press release. “If you have to travel, please be safe and stay aware of the conditions before hitting the road. If you do become stranded, call the NSP Highway Helpline immediately and connect with our dedicated dispatchers who can send help.”

State officials urge drivers to check Nebraska 511 for updated road conditions.  The patrol’s highway helpline can be reached at *55 or 800-525-5555.
