LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol made several DUI arrests during an anti-impaired driving enforcement campaign last weekend.

The effort ran from Friday through Sunday. Saturday was April 20, a day associated with marijuana use.

It coincided with a campaign organized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The patrol said troopers arrested 18 drivers on suspicion of DUI.  Troopers also cited 286 drivers for speeding and 26 for driving under suspension.

“Impaired driving can take multiple forms,” Col. John Bolduc, the patrol’s superintendent, said in a press release. “Every time you get behind the wheel, you should be sober. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs endangers yourself and everyone else on the road.”

A grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office partially funded the effort.
