Nebraska troopers make 36 DUI arrests over Fourth of July weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Several impaired drivers in Nebraska celebrated the red, white and blue in the slammer over the Fourth of July weekend.
From Friday to Wednesday, the Nebraska State Patrol arrested 36 drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence.
“Our troopers stayed busy this weekend as Nebraskans gathered to celebrate America,” Col. John Bolduc, the patrol’s superintendent, said Thursday in a press release. “As the summer continues, we encourage all travelers to drive safely no matter how far the road trip takes you.”
In those six days, troopers also cited 612 drivers for speeding and another 30 for having an open alcohol container, the patrol said.
The additional enforcement was paid for by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office.
