Nebraska village votes to recall chairwoman of board of trustees

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An official in an eastern Nebraska village lost her office Tuesday in a recall election.
Residents of McCool Junction, population 477, voted to recall Patricia Wagner, chairwoman of the Village Board of Trustees.
The unofficial tally is 77-47 in favor of removal, according to the York County Clerk’s Office.
The man who started the petition to oust Wagner alleged that she violated open meeting laws and talked abusively to people.
She denied the accusations.
The election was conducted entirely by mail.
Under Nebraska law, the village board will either choose someone to serve the rest of Wagner’s term or call a special election.
