Nebraska volleyball greeted by fans after returning to Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Fans gathered at the Lincoln Airport on Monday to welcome home the Nebraska volleyball team after its trip to Tampa, Florida.

No. 2 seed Texas swept the No. 1. Huskers in the national championship game at Amalie Arena on Sunday.

Nebraska defeated Long Island University, Missouri, Georgia Tech, Arkansas and Pittsburgh on its way to the championship game.

The Huskers finished their season 33-2.

They began the year by setting a world record for attendance at a women’s sporting event when 92,003 people attended a match at Memorial Stadium.

Nebraska also won its first Big Ten title since 2017.

John Cook was named the AVCA Coach of the Year for his leadership of the team, which had no seniors on the roster.
