Nebraska volleyball rises back up in AVCA poll after dominating week

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska volleyball team rose in the national rankings on Monday, jumping up to No. 2.

This comes after the Huskers swept then-No. 2 Stanford at home on Wednesday, and then followed that up with a sweep over No. 4 Louisville on the road.

Nebraska received 1,442 total points and one first-place vote, while No. 1 Pittsburgh got 1,524 points and 60 first-place votes.

The top 5 is as follows:

No. 1 Pittsburgh (1,524)(60)

No. 2 Nebraska (1,442)(1)

No. 3 Stanford (1,387)

No. 4 Penn State (1,342)

No. 5 Louisville (1,257)

There are seven Big Ten teams in the top 25.

Washington received the most votes out of any team not in the top 25.

Creighton also took a jump in the rankings, moving from No. 9 to No. 6.

Nebraska’s lone loss of the season came from SMU, which is ranked at No. 23.

This week, Nebraska will open up Big Ten play by hosting two league newcomers in UCLA and USC.

UCLA will come into town Friday at 7 p.m., while USC will try its luck Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
