Nebraska volleyball sweeps Utah State in season opener
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Nebraska volleyball opened the season with a sweep on Friday night.
The Huskers defeated Utah State 25-20, 25-17, 25-17 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
No. 5 Nebraska hit .286, compared with 0.61 for Utah State.
Nebraska started the first set down 4-2 but went on a 4-0 run to take the lead.
The Aggies also briefly grabbed the lead in the second set, but a pair of blocks by Bekka Allick put the Huskers back up 9-7.
NU never trailed in the third set.
Harper Murray and Merritt Beason led the team with nine kills apiece.
Lindsay Krause added six, and Allick had five.
The Huskers had 11 blocks, including seven from Allick.
Lexi Rodriguez led Nebraska in digs, with nine. She is now just three away from her 1,000th career dig.
The Huskers play Lipscomb at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Devaney Center as the Ameritas Players Challenge continues.
