Nebraska Wesleyan basketball falls short of conference title, loses to Central College at home

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – It was a packed house at Snyder Arena Saturday night for the 2025 American Rivers Conference championship.
The No. 2-ranked Nebraska Wesleyan men’s basketball team fell short of a title, losing 68-57 to No. 4 Central College.
The game was knotted at 37 at the break, but Central College pulled away in the second half outscoring the Prairie Wolves 31-20.
Nebraska Wesleyan had three players score in double figures, with senior Andrew Brewer leading the way with 12 off the bench.
With the win, Central College locks up an automatic bid to the Division III NCAA Tournament. As for Nebraska Wesleyan, they finish the season 20-7.
Head Coach Dale Wellman feels his team could be on the outside of the bubble looking in. There are 21 at large bids.
“I think the big thing here is, I don’t want this loss to take away from the season and the seniors that our guys have had,” said Wellman. “I’ve had a lot of fun coaching them. I’m obviously disappointed we can’t go to the NCAA tournament to have a few more days with them. I couldn’t be prouder of what these guys did.”
The Division III Selection show is scheduled for Monday March 3rd at 11:00 CST.
