LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — After starting the season undefeated, the No. 20-ranked Nebraska women’s basketball team dropped its second straight game on Thursday, losing 86-76 to No. 14 Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City.


The Huskers (12-2, 1-2) outshot the Hawkeyes from the floor, shooting 50% compared to Iowa’s 49%.

Iowa shot 35% from deep, while the Huskers only shot 30%. The Hawkeyes also spent a lot of time at the free-throw line, making 23 of their 28 free throws.

Britt Prince led the way for Nebraska, scoring 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting. Jessica Petrie racked up 17 points while Eliza Maupin tallied 12 points.

Maupin also snagged a team-high 11 rebounds. Prince was one of five players with a team-high two assists.

Chazadi Wright led the Hawkeyes with 24 points, while Hannah Stuelke put up 21 points and Ava Heiden scored 18 points.

The Huskers will look to bounce back at home against Purdue on Sunday.
