Nebraska women’s basketball falls to Washington on senior day

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska women’s basketball team lost its final home game of the season Sunday, falling 83-62 to Washington at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The Huskies outscored the Huskers 21-5 in the third quarter to build an insurmountable lead, handing Nebraska its 10th loss of the season.
Seniors Alberte Rimdal, Kendall Moriarty, Kendall Coley and Alexis Markowski were all honored after the game, each receiving flowers and a framed jersey.
As a team, the Huskers shot 40% from the floor compared to Washington’s 55%.
Nebraska tallied 15 turnovers, with the Huskies racking up 23 points off those turnovers. Nebraska also allowed 50 points in the paint.
Markowski led the Huskers, posting her 51st double-double of her career with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
Alexis grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and was a bit emotional after her final game at PBA.
“This place has meant everything to me. Not only did I live out a lifelong dream, but it was even better than I ever could have imagined,” said Markowski.
With Sunday being the final time at Pinnacle Bank Arena for these four seniors, Head Coach Amy Williams said they helped create a culture in Lincoln.
“This group of young ladies and what they’ve meant to our program is as hard for me to really put into words,” said Williams. “There’s lots of accomplishments there. The successes, the NCAA tournament win. It’s been nothing more than for the way they’ve helped establish the culture of Nebraska women’s basketball.”
Jessica Petrie also recorded the first double-double of her career with 10 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.
Washington was led by Elle Ladine with 28 points on 11-for-18 shooting. Dalaya Daniels also posted 21 points and 10 boards for the Huskies.
Nebraska will close out its season in Chicago against Northwestern. Tipoff for that game will be Sunday at 2 p.m. and streamed on BIG+.
