Nebraska women’s basketball suffers first loss of season to cross-state rival Creighton
OMAHA, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska women’s basketball team lost its first game of the season Friday, taking an 80-74 loss to cross-state rival Creighton at Sokol Arena in Omaha.
The Bluejays used a strong fourth quarter to outlast the Huskers, outscoring the Big Red 28-19 in the final period.
Six of Creighton’s eight 3-pointers came in the fourth quarter. Four of those shots from deep came via Molly Mogensen.
Nebraska shot 50% from the floor, compared with Creighton’s 48%. The Huskers also outrebounded the Bluejays 36 to 28 and held Creighton to zero second-chance points.
The two teams spent a total of 6 minutes and 30 seconds of game time tied, and the game saw 16 different lead changes.
Creighton shot an impressive 45% from deep and distributed the ball at an elite rate, racking up 23 assists compared with Nebraska’s 12.

Senior guard Lauren Jensen led the Bluejays with 31 points on 10-for-19 shooting, three assists and three rebounds.
Morgan Maly followed with 18 points, while Mogensen tallied 12.
Nebraska was paced in the scoring column by Alexis Markowski with 26 points. She also led the team in rebounds with 12.
Freshman guard Britt Prince racked up 20 points, while hitting two of her four 3-pointers. Nobody else scored more than 9 points for the Huskers.
