Nebraska women’s basketball throttles Northwestern State in season opener

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska women’s basketball team started its season off with a bang Monday, topping Northwestern State 103-46 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
As a team, Nebraska shot 61% from the field, while the Lady Demons shot 35.7%.
Sophomore transfer guard Claire Johnson scored a game-high 21 points in her Nebraska debut, leading five Huskers in double figures.
Johnson posted an efficient 7-for-9 shooting performance, hitting two of her three shots from beyond the arc.
Britt Prince followed close behind with 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting, while Callin Hake tallied 13 points.
Jessica Petrie led the Huskers on the glass with seven boards, while Prince and Amiah Hargrove each tallied three offensive rebounds.
Emily Fisher headlined a stingy Nebraska defense, racking up four steals and one block.
The Huskers turned 24 turnovers into 35 points and outrebounded the Lady Demons 36-26.
Nebraska will be back in Pinnacle Bank Arena on Saturday for a matchup with Samford at 5 p.m.
