LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)– Nebraskans for Peace and several community leaders rallied in support of Ukraine amid the crisis on Sunday.

As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, community leaders and supporters in Lincoln protest the war altogether.

Spiritual leader at First United Methodist Church in Lincoln, Kirstie Engel spoke powerfully at the gathering encouraging Ukraine to persevere. “We will not rest until you have rest; we will not have joy until you have joy,” said Engel.

Ukrainian student at Nebraska Wesleyan, Juliia Izuimova gave a hopeful speech to those who’ve supported the cause at the rally.  “I believe humanity will really overcome all the challenges we are experiencing. I am truly hoping that this can end soon and I will be reunited with my family,” said Izuimova.

The rally concluded with prayers for Ukraine and its citizens.
