Nebraska’s eighth case of bird flu confirmed in small flock

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska Department of Agriculture has confirmed the state’s eighth case of bird flu at a farm in Washington County.
Bird flu was confirmed in a small backyard flock. The poultry will now be killed and properly disposed of, the department said.
Poultry producers in the area should notify the department immediately of any sick or dying birds.
The department confirmed the state’s first case of bird flu on March 16 at a farm in Merrick County.
Bird flu has also been confirmed in Butler, Holt, Dixon and Scotts Bluff Counties.
Over 2 million laying hens were killed and disposed of at a farm in Knox County.
