Nebraska’s missing persons database is communication hub for cases like Tyler Goodrich’s

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – It has been 90 days since Tyler Goodrich disappeared, and he is just one of hundreds in Nebraska’s missing persons clearinghouse.

The Nebraska State Patrol oversees the database, which the public can access thorough the state patrol website.

“You’ll learn more information about who’s missing in the state of Nebraska,” Lt. Monty Lovelace said. “Their last known, what they were last wearing, where they were from, those types of things. And it just gives people an understanding of where they were at and who they can report that information to.”

Lovelace is the Director of the Nebraska Information Analysis Center. He said sharing information through fusion centers or databases with other agencies across the country is key.

“Crime doesn’t stop at the Nebraska border,” he said. “Unfortunately, it crosses state lines; it can even cross international lines. We have to have a central point of communication. That’s why it’s so important for these databases to talk to one another and for fusion centers to talk to one another.”

The public should also keep an eye out for suspicious activity.

“We want people to recognize what looks suspicious and getting over that fear of reporting it,” Lovelace said. “Oftentimes, people feel as though they are crossing into other people’s business and they’re intruding. And quite frankly, they could save someone’s life.”

If you see something, say something.

“The bottom line is that there’s a lot of activity out there that’s going on, there’s a lot of things to see,” Lovelace said. “We’re just asking people to open their eyes and look, and if they see something reported, just don’t turn a blind eye to it.”
