Nebraska’s Ronald McDonald House unveils new Huskers Big Red Friday flag

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Ronald McDonald House Charites revealed this year’s Big Red Friday flag during an event at Memorial Stadium on Wednesday.

Former Husker Josh Banderas and local Mcdonald’s owners helped unveil the new flag, which includes the Blackshirt logo.

“It’s not just a flag, it’s not just a fundraiser,” said Lindsey Rai Kortan, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities in Omaha.  “You are doing something for other people that is so much bigger than ourselves.”

Fans can stop at participating McDonald’s on Aug. 26 and buy the flag for $5, with all proceeds benefitting families staying at the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Omaha.

“The uniqueness of this partnership is that it only exists in this particular market, helping these particular families that call Nebraska home,” Kortan said.

In the last five years, the fundraiser has raised over $130,000 for Nebraska families.
