Neighbors speak out about shooting victim, mother of five

Lincoln Police have identified the victim of an early morning shooting at a Lincoln town home.

LPD says Davonnis Wilkinson, 25, was shot several times at her home, the Fairfield West Apartments, near N 1st and Superior Street.

Police say Wilkinson is in life-threatening condition at a local hospital.

Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister says there is no ongoing threat to the public, but asked for anyone with information to contact law enforcement or call Crime Stoppers.

LPD says Wilkinson and an adult man were in the home at the time of the shooting, as well as three children.

The man, who police identified as Rashaun Jones, 27, was arrested for 3rd degree domestic assault against Wilkinson.

He was arrested after officers canvassed the area following the shooting.

The Criminal Investigations unit is investigating the shooting and looking over evidence found at the scene.

Many people in the community said 25 year old Davonnis Wilkinson is a dedicated mother to her five children.

One close neighbor also has five children and was pregnant with her last child the same time Wilkinson was with hers.

"I can’t imagine what they are going through, especially with all the children she had," said Lonshay Brown. "I cried because I’m a mother too and I think anybody with a heart and as a mother probably would have felt the same way."

Rashaun Jones is due in court Tuesday afternoon for the assault charge against Wilkinson.

Wilkinson remains in critical condition.
