NeighborWorks Lincoln kicks off June with a jamboree

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Neighborworks Lincoln is starting summer by offering beneficial information to everyday Lincolnites so they can better understand the housing market.
At their June Jamboree, people could visit different booths, enjoy music and food. The non–profit is working even harder now as they navigate the competitive housing market of 2021.
“Right now, in Lincoln, the housing market is absolutely crazy. When you think of those first time homes, and maybe single mother homes, or even double income people with student loans. Like my husband and myself, it is kind of impossible to think of being able to purchase your own home right now,” Katie Mims, a volunteer, said.
The pandemic has caused the housing market to be even more competitive, especially for lower income families. Emphasizing the importance of the help neighbor works is providing. Giving advice on finances, renovations and loans.
“We want you to come down and be able to physically talk to the people face to face, learn what it is that you can get to the community but what also the resources that Lincoln has to give back to you,” Demetrius Gatson, a volunteer, said.
