New building at Branched Oak Observatory open for LPS field trips
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- The Branched Oak Observatory hosted its 9th annual fall Star-BQ on Saturday.
The event was free to the public and hosted events and activities from 5 p.m. until 11 p.m.
Branched Oak Observatory also had a grand opening of the Kunkel-Family Multi-Purpose Center.
The building will allow the observatory to host field trips and other learning activities, even when the weather doesn’t permit viewing the night sky.
“Skies don’t always cooperate with us, sometimes its cloudy, but we can’t shut down because the sky doesn’t allow us to view the night sky,” said observatory co-founder Michael Sibbernsen.
The new building featured activities like physics demonstrations and arts and crafts on Saturday.
The event also had an evening star gazing event as well as raffle prizes and a live auction.
