Station 11 opened its doors today near NW 48th and W. Adams streets.
The fire house was previously inside of Air Park which caused a lot of response times problems.
So, with the new location, the hope is Lincoln Fire and Rescue will be able to get to a scene much faster now.

Fire Chief Michael Despain says, "Expect significant improvements. Every time it leaves the airport there’s about a minute of response time that’s just wasted in getting to a major cross street so we’ll say a minute just about every response we go to."

This is the first new fire station in Lincoln in the last 22 years.
