New housing development coming to Lincoln

A heads up for future home buyers: a new housing development is in the works and coming soon to Lincoln.

The Garden View housing development will feature cottages, town homes and an Eco-friendly community.

It is located off of 35th and Superior streets.

Developers say it will be an affordable buy for those first time home buyers.

“Not everybody wants something bigger, some people are looking for something a little smaller so we have these cottages that are about 1,050 to 1,300 square feet. That is putting the price of the homes at well under $200,000, which is difficult to do on a single family lot in Lincoln,” said developer Marty Fortney.

Garden View is being built on 67 acres of land in northeast Lincoln, just west of salt creek.

It will provide small lake and trail access right out of your backyard, as well as other environmental bonuses.

“We designed an Eco friendly, a green belt if you will. We are actually collecting the water from the rooftops and all the curbing and we are using that water and filling up ponds that we have built,” said Fortney.

Later this month on October 25th there will be a grand opening/open house from 4pm to 6:30pm.

Tours of the five soon–to–be completed lane way cottages and two town homes will be given.

“October 15th, we will expect the house that we are sitting in today will be finished, we will have some furniture to get an idea of how you can arrange your home. Most every house having a view of the open area and lakes,” said Mike Thomalla, a Realtor with Woods Brothers.

The expectation is that the entire 100 home community will be built within the next two years.

The realtors on the sub division, Anne Kerkman and Mike Thomalla will be at the open house on October 25th to answer any questions the public may have.
