Two suspects in the murder of Stacy Talbot were arrested while asleep in a Walmart parking lot in Clovis, New Mexico last weekend.

A release from the Clovis Police Department said the United States Marshal Service because Jesse J. Wilson and Sherry L. Thomas, who were wanted in Lincoln, Nebraska, were believed to be in Clovis.

Investigators found one of the suspect’s phones had “pinged” in the Walmart parking lot, so Clovis PD deployed their SWAT team.

At 2:15 a.m. their officers swarmed their vehicle in the lot. Captain Roman Romero with the Clovis PD said they deployed distraction devices called “flash bangs,” and tear gas in and around the vehicle.

Wilson and Thomas tried to drive off, so an officer drove the SWAT team’s armored vehicle onto the hood of their car.

Romero said the suspects refused to exit the car so they deployed a K-9 into the vehicle. Eventually they were removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.

Thomas and Wilson were taken to a hospital to be checked out because a K-9 bit them before they were arrested and taken to the Curry County Adult Detention Center.

Romero said they are still being held there. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is in charge of the extradition process and they don’t release the dates they plan to bring suspects back to Nebraska.
