New play area at Lincoln park honors late 6-year-old girl
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A new play area at a Lincoln park was dedicated on Friday night to a 6-year-old girl who died in 2020.
Ingrid “Iggy” Borer died of complications from a heart transplant, but thanks to nearly 70 donors, her memory lives on Woods Park.
“She loved this park, and she would have loved this swing,” said Pat Borer, Iggy’s grandfather. “So it just brings all those emotions to the top, to the surface a little bit more. But the outpouring from the community is awesome.”
Iggy spent hours at the park, swinging with her sister and twin brother.
The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department said the play area is meant to be accessible to all.
It features a rope swing and metal chimes for kids to enjoy, just like Iggy did.
