New Year’s Eve celebratory gunshot may have hit 6-year-old, Omaha Police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 6-year-old girl was wounded by a gunshot in north Omaha on New Year’s Eve.

Officers responded to a home near 26th and Blondo streets just after 11 p.m. Tuesday.

They found a girl inside the home with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to the Omaha Police Department.

She was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Police said the shooting may been the result of celebratory gunfire.

The investigation is ongoing.
