New York Jets sign former Husker quarterback Adrian Martinez

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The New York Jets announced the signing of former Nebraska quarterback Adrian Martinez.

The news came Saturday morning in a post on X before their fourth training camp practice.

We’ve signed QB Adrian Martinez and CB Kendall Sheffield.

We’ve released CB Nehemiah Shelton and QB Ben Bryant.

This news follows a breakout season for Martinez in the UFL.

Martinez threw for 1,749 yards and 15 touchdowns, leading the Birmingham Stallions to victory in the UFL’s inaugural championship game.

The former Husker signal caller also led the league in rushing with 528 yards.

Martinez ranked second in the UFL in total offense with 2,277 yards and first with 18 total touchdowns.

His performance throughout the season earned him league MVP and championship MVP honors.

This will be Martinez’s second stint in the NFL as he played preseason football with the Detroit Lions in 2023.
