Nice and quiet on Monday, more storms to follow
Sunday was a very windy day, with widespread regions of 50-60 mph gusts statewide. Winds have backed off almost completely as of Monday morning, and we’ll keep light winds around all day long.
Because the winds relax on Monday, just about everything will be going for us weather-wise. Although it may be a bit chilly to start, temperatures will warm up fast under sunny skies. By afternoon, we’re looking at temperatures in the 60s and 70s across the area.
Unfortunately, breezy conditions return on Tuesday, and temperatures will make a run for 80°. While much of the day will be mostly sunny, scattered evening thunderstorms will be possible.
A few of these will may be on the stronger side. A Level 1/5 risk for severe weather is in place for Tuesday night in eastern Nebraska. Large hail looks like the primary concern, but strong winds will accompany a few cells.
We could see another round of severe weather on Wednesday, with southeast Nebraska under a Level 2/5 risk for severe storms. A frontal boundary will be in our midst, and more widespread storm activity looks possible late Wednesday afternoon and evening.
We’ll be watching these severe weather threats closely in the coming days. After Wednesday, things cool off a bit through the rest of the week. This leads up to Saturday, which may end up being the coolest day out of the next ten.
