Nice start to the holiday weekend; Temperatures rise for Labor Day
Overall, there will be nice weather for the three day Labor Day weekend. We start the weekend with below normal temperatures, but there will be a gradual increase Sunday, and warmer/more humid conditions for Labor Day.
Saturday morning will start with clouds across southeast Nebraska. There will also be a chance for a few scattered showers, especially south of Lincoln to the Nebraska/Kansas border. The chance for rain quickly drops after 9 a.m.
That means that it should be dry for the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ home opener against Fordham. While there may be more clouds for kick-off, expect to see skies turning mostly sunny by the end of the game. The game will start with temperatures around 70° – warming to the middle/upper 70°s by the end of the 4th quarter.
DID YOU KNOW: The average high temperature for the Huskers’ home opener since 2000 is 83°. The warmest high temperature for the home opener was 106° in 2000.
Temperatures will top out in the upper 70°s for most of southeast Nebraska Saturday afternoon. It should be a very comfortable day with just a slight amount of humidity. Dew point temperatures will be around 60°.
Sunday will bring mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the lower 80°s. There will be a slight chance for an isolated shower west of Lincoln.
Monday will see temperatures back in to the middle 80°s. It will likely feel more summer-like as the dew point climbs to the lower 70°s, making it feel “muggly” in southeast Nebraska.
Have a fun, and safe, holiday weekend!
