No. 13 Nebraska basketball stays undefeated with win over No. 9 Michigan State

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The No. 13-ranked Nebraska men’s basketball team won a thriller over No. 9 Michigan State Friday night, beating the Spartans 58-56 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.


It was a back-and-forth battle between both squads all night long, as the game featured 11 ties and 14 lead changes.

As time was ticking down, Pryce Sandfort was called for a shooting foul with 0.7 seconds left in the game.

Michigan State’s Carson Cooper missed both free throws to clear the path for a Nebraska victory.

As a team, Nebraska shot 32% from the floor compared with the Spartans’ 34%.

Rienk Mast led the Huskers with 19 points, with 18 of those points coming from beyond the arc. Mast also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Sandfort tallied 13 points while Jamarques Lawrence racked up 12 points.

Sam Hoiberg dished out a team-high five assists. Braden Frager was a force on defense, picking four steals.

Nebraska now holds a nation-leading 18-game winning streak dating back to last season.

The Huskers will hit the floor again on Monday for a matchup with Ohio State.

Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. in Columbus on FS1.
