No. 16 Nebraska softball closes out Mary Nutter Classic in dominant fashion

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The No. 16-ranked Nebraska softball team closed out the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on a high note Sunday, beating Utah 10-2 in five innings.
The Huskers fell behind early, giving up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Nebraska went on to score 10 unanswered runs to grab its third run-rule victory of the classic.
Lincoln native Abbie Squier led the Huskers from the plate, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs, two home runs and three runs.
Kacie Hoffmann also had a solid showing, going 2-for-three from the plate with two RBIs and a homer. Bredwell also knocked a home run in the game.
Jordyn Bahl (5-2) secured the win for the Huskers, pitching all five innings while only allowing three hits and striking out five batters.
Kennedy Proctor paced the Utes with a 1-for-2 showing from the plate with an RBI, a double and a run.
Pitcher Brooklyn Carreon (1-3) took the loss, pitching 1.1 innings while allowing three hits and four runs.
The Huskers will now head to Wichita to play in the Wichita State Tournament. Nebraska will take on South Dakota State on Friday at 10 a.m.
