No. 19 Nebraska softball run-rules its way into regional final

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The No. 19-ranked Nebraska softball team put on an offensive clinic Saturday, beating Southeastern Louisiana 14-1 in the second round of the Baton Rouge Regional.

In five innings, the Huskers tallied 12 hits and committed zero errors, while the Lions only managed one hit and committed three errors.

Nebraska’s bats were hot from the first pitch, racking up 3 runs in the top of the first inning to take an early lead.

The Huskers proceeded to score 7 runs in the third inning and 4 in the fourth to advance to the regional final.

Four Huskers tallied two hits from the plate: Samantha Bland, Hannah Camenzind, Bella Bacon and Abbie Squier.

Ava Kuszak’s 20th home run of the season came in the form of a grand slam in the third inning, giving Kuszak a team-high four RBIs.

Jordyn Bahl and Bland hit back-to-back homers in the fourth inning.

Bahl (24-6) got the win in the circle for the Huskers, pitching three innings while only giving up one hit and 1 run. Bahl also fanned three in her outing.

With the win, the Huskers advance to the championship game of the regional.

Southeastern Louisiana will play an elimination game against against the winner of UConn and LSU at 5 p.m.

The winner of that game will have to beat Nebraska twice for a chance to advance to a super regional.

First pitch for game one is set for Sunday at 2 p.m.
