No. 20 Nebraska softball racks up two run-rule victories to kick off Big Red Spring Fling

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The No. 20-ranked Nebraska softball team kicked off the Big Red Spring Fling with a bang Saturday, racking up two run-rule victories over Northern Iowa and Northern Colorado at Bowlin Stadium.

In the first game of the day, the Huskers knocked off Northern Iowa 14-1 in five innings.

As a team, Nebraska racked up 12 hits and only committed one error, while the Panthers only had two hits and one error.

Four players had two hits for the Huskers, including Jordyn Bahl, Samantha Bland, Olivia DiNardo and Hannah Camenzind.

Abby Squier and Camenzind each had a team-high three RBIs, while Bahl, Bland and Squier each had a home run.

Bahl (9-3) was awarded the win for Nebraska, pitching three innings while only allowing one hit and fanning four.

In the second game at Bowlin Stadium, Nebraska beat Northern Colorado 12-4 in six innings.

As a team, the Huskers tallied 12 hits and committed two errors, while the Bears had six hits and zero errors.

DiNardo led the Huskers with two hits, three RBIs and a homer, while Bahl and Ava Kuszak also had two hits.

Camenzind (2-2) got the win for Nebraska, pitching two innings while only giving up three hits and fanning two.

Nebraska will play another double-header on Sunday, matching up with Northern Iowa at 4 p.m. and South Dakota State at 6:30 p.m.

Both games will be a Bowlin Stadium.
