No. 20 Nebraska softball rolls Purdue in 16th run-rule victory of the season

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The No. 20-ranked Nebraska softball team notched another dominating win Saturday, taking down Purdue 13-1 in five innings at Bowlin Stadium.
After not scoring any runs in the first inning, the Huskers exploded for 7 runs in the second inning in route to their 16th run-rule victory of the season.
Nebraska now has six or more runs in 11 different innings this season.
As a team, the Big Red racked up 13 hits and only committed one error. The Boilermakers only tallied two hits and committed one error.
Eight different Huskers recorded a hit, with Olivia DiNardo and Kacie Hoffman leading the charge with three apiece.
Hoffman led the team with a career-high four RBIs and a career-high two home runs. Ava Kuszak totaled two hits with three RBIs and a homer.
Jordyn Bahl (14-3) earned the win on the mound for Nebraska, pitching all five innings while striking out eight batters.
Julia Gossett and Kylie Franks had the two hits for the Boilermakers.
Madi Elish (6-5) took the loss on the mound, only pitching 1.1 innings while giving up seven hits, 7 runs and only striking out two batters.
The Huskers and the Boilermakers are set to square off in game two of the series on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Bowlin Stadium.
