No bond allowed for man accused of killing girlfriend in Beatrice

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Beatrice man appeared in court Friday on charges of killing his girlfriend and holding their children hostage.

Judge Jeffrey Gaertig ordered Christopher Milke, 51, to be held without bond.

Court documents allege that about 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 8, Milke shot Tammy Leslie four times at their home, killing her.

He screwed the doors shut to the home so his children couldn’t get out, according to an arrest affidavit.

About two hours later, officers forced their way into the home and arrested Milke.

Milke thought that Leslie was cheating on him, the affidavit says.

One of the children told police that Milke had screwed the doors shut every night for the past month to keep everyone inside.

Milke is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping and use of a firearm to commit a felony.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 9.
