No clues from search for missing Lincoln woman, but family and investigators ‘not giving up’
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Investigators searched a property in central Nebraska this week for missing Lincoln woman Jerica Hamre, but they didn’t find any sign of her.
On Wednesday, police said they aren’t giving up.
One of Hamre’s friends, Becki Bennetts, said she last talked to Hamre on June 25, the same day she disappeared. Hamre was reported missing July 3.

Bennetts said Hamre, a mom of three, called her from the hospital after being jumped by her roommates.
“I offered to come get her she told me no. She wanted to forgive them and mend their relationship as roommates,” Bennetts said. “And that’s the last time I had heard from her.”
Investigators searched a property in Overton on Monday and Tuesday.
“We do have evidence that suggests that Jerica could have last been in the vicinity of Arapahoe, Holdrege, Overton and Lexington, Nebraska, along with the surrounding rural areas,” said Erika Thomas, a spokeswoman for the Lincoln Police Department.

Police didn’t reveal what that evidence was, but Bennetts said Hamre’s phone could be drawing investigators to central Nebraska.
“Her phone did ping going off of the interstate in the west direction,” she said.
Bennetts said one of Hamre’s roommates is from Lexington, which is about 10 miles west of Overton.
Bennetts said she and Hamre’s family are looking for closure.
“She’s got those little girls that still just need answers, and her poor mom,” she said.
She shared a message from Hamre’s family: “Even though the search of the property is over, they’re not done. They’re not giving up. They’re not done searching for her.”
LPD reshared photos of Hamre on social media Wednesday, hoping someone will recognize her or remember seeing her and share a tip.
Anyone with information about Hamre’s disappearance should call LPD at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
“Jerica’s birthday has passed since she disappeared, and we do not want another one to go by without locating her,” Thomas said. “Please help us find Jerica and bring her home. No detail is too small, and we appreciate all leads.”
